Schefflera actinophylla

Queensland umbrella tree

A fifteen foot tall Queensland umbrella tree, Schefflera actinophylla, with a very round dense canopy by a garden suite near the beach overlooking the bay at The Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai Resort in Key Largo, Florida

A common office / house plant, this specimen often shocks our guests from the north when they see how large it can get outdoors here in the tropics. While it is neat to have such a specimen, planting one in the landscape is not recommended, as it is a non-native invasive species.
