Firecracker plant is cultivated in some areas of Mexico as a remedy for kidney diseases. If you don't let the soil dry out too often and fertilize it from time to time, it blooms almost year-round and the flowers produce nectar enjoyed by hummingbirds, as can be seen in the video below:
