Used widely in India, crossandra flowers are strung, sometimes with jasmine blossoms, into garlands for women’s hair or offerings to temple deities. Here's a short video clip of a woman in India stringing a garland:

Crossandra produces a profusion of beautiful orange flowers. The plant will take breaks between flowering events to develop seeds, which fall to the ground and produce new plants. If you live in a warm enough area, crossandra is a perennial that will form a beautiful groundcover reaching up to a couple feet tall.
